How to remove vocals from a song to make a karaoke track

3 November 2026

Most stereo songs place the lead vocal in the centre, so it is the same in the left and right speakers. Subtracting one side from the other cancels everything that is centred, which removes much of the voice and leaves the rest of the music.

Steps

  • Open Vocal Remover and add a stereo song.
  • Leave Keep the bass on to protect the kick drum and bass line, which are also centred.
  • Press Remove vocals, listen to the result, then download the MP3.

Get a better result

  • Older stereo studio recordings work best.
  • Wide vocals, harmonies and echo can leave some voice behind.
  • Other centred sounds, such as a snare, may get quieter.
  • A mono recording comes out silent, because the left and right sides are identical.

Good to know

  • This is not AI, so it will not match a studio instrumental.
  • Use only music that you own or have the right to use.
  • Your song stays on your device.
